About The Course
The Qualified Security Manager (QSM) course is a progressive twelve unit course, designed to provide students with both fundamental knowledge regarding security management and the practical skills to apply that knowledge in their work environment.
The objective of the nine core units of the course is to firstly ensure the student has a deep understanding of the elements required to create a security management system and secondly, through the externally assessed assignments, to apply that knowledge
to their work environment, thus creating the core elements of their own security management system. As such, not only does the QSM course broaden the knowledge of the student, it also challenges them to apply that knowledge for the benefit of their
Within the security management system, the Plan, Do, Check and Act theory is applied as a framework, to ensure a culture of continuous improvement is encouraged alongside the creation of a security management system.
The elective units of the course are designed to broaden the students knowledge in other key areas of security management and again, apply that knowledge to the operations of their own organisation. As part of the QSM course, the student will select three
elective units out of a choice of fifteen.
The QSM course has been designed for the following type of students:
- Full-time professional security managers who wish to add to their existing knowledge and further their careers by adding an accredited qualification to their portfolio.
- Part-time security focal points for whom security is not their core role, but they have security responsibilities that are part of their remit. The course will teach them the fundamentals of security management, allowing them to confidently and efficiently
fulfil their role.
